|Experience:||I am a recent graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law.|
During my three years in law school, I committed myself to being involved with many clubs and student organizations, and served in the Presidential, secretarial, and publicity coordinator offices. I also represented the Student Bar Association for my class my second year of law school. The Associate Dean of the law school and student leaders elected me as a 3L Honor Board Representative, as well as one of the drafters for the Student Code of Conduct. All of these opportunities provided me with different outlets working with others to make a difference for law students and provide them with a voice, connecting with lawyers and other professionals in the community, provided me with public speaking experience, management, marketing, fundraising and campaign skills, and maintaining monetary accounts.
In reference to my written and oral communication skills, I worked closely with legal writing professors and students as a teaching assistant for Legal Writing I and II, Advanced Appellate Advocacy, and Contracts Drafting. I worked in the Illinois Human Rights Commission where I followed guidelines to review and investigate multiple kinds of discrimination cases, drafted memos and summaries based on my conclusions, and presented cases in multiple meetings at the appeal and en banc level. I also have worked in an employment law firm, which provided me with knowledge on unemployment issues, ADA issues, discrimination cases, and how to work with a diverse client population. I had interaction with clients and attorneys on a regular basis which provided me with exceptional customer service experience, interviewing skills, maintaining documents, confidentiality, and more.
My resume highlights my ability to work with multiple parties or alone in high stress environments, my expertise in connecting with students, staff, and community members and developing relationships, and extensive work with many diverse populations. During my time in law school, I was able to plan multiple events, which required a great deal of organization, being well informed about budgeting issues, the ability to communicate with many people within the law school and the undergraduate campus, provide education and network within the community about the clubs and organizations I represented, and the ability to work as a team. Specifically, I planned a large event to educate students, professors, lawyers and judges from the surrounding communities about human trafficking. I work well in a leadership position as well as working with those superior to me, I am able to meet prompt deadlines, and have a strong legal background.
